Pierre PICOT
Senior consultant, joined IXAS Conseil in 1993
He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Arts et Métiers, France and a Masters degree in Polymer Engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio, USA, where he graduated in 1966.
He is in charge of the Opportunity Analysis and of European Commission DG Research projects and relationships. He is an appointed Consultant to DG Research. He presented several papers at conferences on plastics recycling and teaches on innovation management and valorization of research results at the Lyon Graduate School of Management
Of French mother tongue, he is fluent in English and has a good command of German.

- R&D projects framing, evaluation, coordination and management,
- Workshop facilitation and training,
In depth knowledge of the following industries / issues :
- chemical and plastics (production and converting) industries,

- all plastics end use markets (packaging, durable goods, automotive, ...)
Previous professional experience :
He pursued his career (26 years) at Dow Europe (6th world largest chemical company) in Switzerland, France, Germany in the fields of Technical Service & Development, Marketing and Business Opportunity Analysis.
Opportunity Analyst :
He was in charge of Opportunity Analysis, acting as facilitator for assessment of
development strategies for new product-market opportunities through ‘Mission and Business Screen Prioritization’ sessions and implemented the methodology in various chemicals and plastics materials product groups, for the consumer durable, automotive, paper, paint, building and packaging end use markets.
This lead to decision support on
- - investissement in new products / markets,
- - divestment of activities,
- - re-allocation of resources (technical, R&D, commercial),
- - understanding in view of acquisition.
More specifically this was done through:
- - revision of mission statements and projects screening criteria,
- - functional needs segmentation of markets,
- - analysis of market position, diagnostic,
- - formulation and revision of marketing strategies.
Project manager, Plastics and the Environnement :
His last assignment was one of Project Manager for ‘Plastics and the Environment’, in charge of strategy formulation and implementation of recycling projects.
He was in charge of the HDPE plastic bottle recycling project closely co-operating with European waste management companies, recyclers, converters and end users.
He is particularly familiar with international projects and operations. He was acting as interface with the emerging industry organisations put in place to address the separate collection, sorting and recycling of valuable plastics fractions and the technology supplier.
Project manager, Specialty films :
Before this experience, he was in charge of regional specialty films (industrial and packaging markets) sales and marketing, and member of the European film business management team. He participated in the formulation of the growth strategy to better penetrate the food packaging markets, particularly with advanced barrier materials and specialty resins.
He was a member of the team which developed the strategy to penetrate the European Food Packaging arena.
He spoke at several seminars of the French Packaging Institute on the themes of advance packaging materials.
He was instrumental in the market development of linear low polyethylenes in the early ‘80s. He had started his career as a polyethylene development and technical service engineer.
